One of the BGCHC’s biggest concerns with reopening was the lack of an outdoor play area for its members. COVID-19 regulations prohibited field trips and contact sports, restricted youth’s movement throughout the building, and enforced social distancing—making for a difficult summer for children confined to one classroom throughout the day.

With the advancement of COVID-19, the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City (BGCAC) has quickly adapted to expanding our mission to support Club Kids, to include their families and our greater community. We quickly identified the critical need of providing food at a time when our Club families already live in a verified food desert and since our Clubs were closed, the daily meals we previously provided would need to be replaced.
During this uncertain time when closures resulting from COVID-19 are causing our families to lose access to critical support systems that keep children safe, healthy, and engaged, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County is committed to doing whatever it takes to find innovative ways to reach the children in our community.
