Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County – COVID-19 Response

How We Are Responding to the COVID-19 Crisis

During this uncertain time when closures resulting from COVID-19 are causing our families to lose access to critical support systems that keep children safe, healthy, and engaged, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County is committed to doing whatever it takes to find innovative ways to reach the children in our community. Now more than ever, our members need a sense of stability; we will continue to find new ways to provide just that.

What the Club is doing:

Serving grab-and-go meals every weekday, as we know food insecurity is a significant concern for many of our Club families. As of mid April, we have distributed over 4,500 dinners.

The Club is also offering BGCM Boundless, our virtual enrichment program that engages our kids remotely through Zoom, a private Facebook group, and live and pre-recorded videos on YouTube. Programs include:

  • Social & Emotional Learning
  • Project LEAD, our teen employment and empowerment program
  • NetSmartz Cyber Safety
  • Yoga
  • Jr NBA
  • Health Habits Cooking Class
  • Mentorship
  • Tutoring and Homework Help
  • The Hip Hop Institute
  • TriplePlay Fitness Class (see an example here)

Our goal is to assist those in the community who need us most, expand access to educational experiences, and help our families thrive during these difficult times. Our vision during this time is to help reverse learning loss, restore a feeling of safety, provide social-emotional support, and give kids something both constructive and fun to do with their time at home.
