2019 Youth of the Year Event

 

 

On June 5th, over 300 guests gathered at Montclair State University for the 2019 New Jersey State Youth of the Year Celebration. The 18 honored youth received $60,000 in scholarships and the evening culminated with the announcement of the 2019 NJ State and Military Youth of the Year winners.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Gloucester County

 

Nzingha is a 10th grader at Woodbury Sr High School where she maintains a 4.2 GPA. She has been honored with the Military Medal for Resilence and acts as a Student Representative on the Board of Education. She is a member of the drama club and varsity basketball team. At the Club, she participated in Keystone Club and Torch Club. As part of the Healthy Habits program, she developed Nzingha’s Cooking Show to promote healthy eating habits amongst her fellow Club members. Nzingha’s career aspirations are to become an attorney and a Supreme Court Justice.

McGuire Youth Center

 

Tamiya is a 10th grader at Northern Burlington High School where she maintains a 3.7 GPA. She is a member of the Junior ROTC program. At the McGuire Youth Center, she is the Keystone Club Secretary. Her community service projects include leading the McGuire Youth Center book donation drive and volunteering at McGuire’s Airman’s Attic. Tamiya’s career aspirations are to become a teacher and inspire other youth.
