Boys & Girls Club of Newark (BGCN) Using Trauma-Informed Practices, Policies & Procedures to Change and Sustain Organizational Culture

The Boys & Girls Club of Newark (BGCN) embarked on the trauma-informed journey in 2017 with the onset of training staff to recognize signs of trauma and adverse childhood experiences. BGCN strategically and intentionally integrates the seven elements of a trauma-informed club by sharing stories of hope about Club members and ensuring staff well-being is cared for through mental and behavioral health services and mental health days.
