Concert for Kids is a Hit

On November 12, 2015, the Boys & Girls Clubs in New Jersey celebrated an inspirational evening at the 13th Annual Concert for Kids event filled with talented youth and incredible music. Presented by NJPAC, as part of the 2015 TD James Moody Jazz Festival, sponsored by TD Bank, the event headliner was Tony Bennett with special guest Antonia Bennett. The evening kicked off with a pre-concert VIP reception with more than 200 Boys & Girls Clubs in New Jersey supporters. The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey was the Corporate Honoree recognized for their commitment to educating and informing youth and families to lead healthy, fulfilling lives. Accepting this honor was Robert A. Marino, Chairman & CEO of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and Chairman of The Horizon Foundation for New Jersey.

Amy Freeze, WABC-TV’s Emmy-Award winning Meteorologist, served as reception emcee. Other special guests included BGCNJ’s celebrity spokesperson Joe Piscopo and BGCNJ’s Health & Fitness Ambassador and NFL punter Steve Weatherford. BGCNJ’s 2015 NJ Youth of the Year, Jennifer Negron, and Jack Rickey, NJ Military Youth of the Year, were proudly introduced and shared their moving stories about how the Boys & Girls Clubs had a life-changing impact on them. Charlene Hardy, an alumni from BGC Hudson County, performed a beautiful acapella rendition of “Greatest Love of All.”

The 13th Concert for Kids raised more than $150,000. The proceeds from this event will be used to support the Boys & Girls Clubs in NJ’s State Network of 23 local Boys and Club organizations serving over 70,000 youth throughout the Garden State.
