Concert for Kids was a Hit

 

Fantasia, Philip Bailey, Jose James and the Christian McBride Big Band were the performer at the 12th Annual Concert for Kids on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. The Concert for Kids is the annual fundraiser benefitting the 23 local Boys & Girls Club organizations in New Jersey.  The proceeds from the concert support afterschool and summer programs for youth in need across the state.  The event raised over $100,000 for Boys & Girls Clubs in New Jersey.

At the VIP Reception, Event Chair, Nick Miceli, Market President of TD Bank, spoke about his commitment to the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs.  Awards were presented to both John Schreiber, President of NJPAC, and Hugh Weber, President of Prudential Center and the NJ Devil, as the evening’s co-honorees.  One of the highlights of the evening was the remarkable performance by Alexandra Marx of the National Anthem.  The audience was so blow away by the power of her voice that Hugh Weber offered her the opportunity to sing the national anthem at a NJ Devils game.   Alexandra highlighted the talent and skills of Club members and reminded the crowd of the potential in the youth Clubs serve everyday.  Additionally, highlighting the value of investing in our youth, Sparkle Prevard, 2014 New Jersey & Northeast Regional Youth of the Year discussed her experience as a Club member at Boys & Girls Clubs of Atlantic City.  The program was closed by Steve Weatherford, NY Giants Punter & BGCNJ Health & Fitness Ambassador.

The Concert for Kids is Boys & Girls Clubs in New Jersey’s signature fundraising event. Since its inception in 2003, more than $3.8 million has been raised to support the work of Boys & Girls Clubs throughout New Jersey.   The funds raised through the concert support the important work of local Boys & Girls Club organizations in New Jersey to serve youth in need.
